Death by Appalachian Trail or Not

During WWII, U.S. pilots were told should they be shot down to make their deaths count. If they could guide their planes into an enemy ship or installation. When Catholics pointed out suicide was a mortal sin, chaplains explained that mortal sins occur in the heart’s intent. Although it would likely not change the physical outcome, Catholic pilots were told to jump out their planes at the last moment. This way, the heart’s intent was to survive.

I’ve always wanted my death to have meaning. Since my first wife Bunny, I have wanted to walk the Appalachian trail. Should I loose David, there is a slight chance I will try to crawl it. Wuth surgery on my left knee, maybe walk it with prosthetics.
